Fashion is the biggest problem for men. They don’t have the same variety as women and so, most simply give up on styling themselves. But what they don’t understand is that this is a blessing in disguise! Less variety means less time in figuring out what suits you. Just make the effort to find your style – and voila! You look fabulous every single day.
To help you in this journey, we’ve compiled men’s biggest fashion mistakes to stop making. Let’s dive in!
Office Shoes
Do you go to the office? That’s cool, but please stop wearing those black office shoes with every outfit. Just because they are black and you wear them often doesn’t mean they should be the only pair you own.
Office shoes are for office and corporate events. However, when you’re outside those places, wear shoes that go with your outfit. These may include sneakers, loafers, sandals, boots, or slip-ons.
For home, casual family events, or the beach, invest in these high-quality and versatile mens cushion slides. They are super comfortable and look cool in every casual outfit.
Ties over Short-Sleeved Shirts
We often see men wearing ties over short-sleeved shirts, but we don’t like them at all. It’s just another version of wearing office shoes everywhere, and the combination simply does not look good.
It’s neither formal nor casual—somewhere in between—and makes you look ridiculous. If you really like wearing ties, consider a long-sleeved dress shirt. Pair a black tie with a white or black dress shirt for a classy look.
To make this casual, roll up your sleeves to just below your elbows. You can also untuck your shirt, loosen the tie a bit, and undo the top two buttons. Don’t undo more than that, or you will look sloppy.
Oversized or Too Tight Clothes
There is only one major rule to look flattering — wear clothes of your size. It doesn’t matter what style you choose. Be it street wear, athletic, or old money; make sure the clothes fit you.
Your shirt shouldn’t be drooping too much at the shoulders, and the pants shouldn’t be too slouchy. Similarly, your body shouldn’t be bulging out from your outfit, either. Instead, everything should fit right on your figure.
Pick the Right Colors
Have you ever wondered why some colors look very good on you? Well, this is because these colors go well with your skin tone, and identifying them can be game-changing for your fashion style.
The general rule is that light colors match fair-skinned people, and earthy tones suit medium-skin tone individuals. Meanwhile, dark-skinned people should wear bold and bright colors. You need to experiment in these categories to find your perfect set of colors.
Excess Jewelry
Don’t get us wrong – jewelry is for both men and women. But a guy should definitely not be wearing too much of it. You will only look like a hippie. For corporate events, it’s best to wear a classy bracelet or necklace. If you’re wearing rings, two or three bands are okay. You can also wear decorative cufflinks and tie bands.
