The Spring/Summer 2018 Nolcha Runway shows present creativity and style from its independent fashion designers showcases. Nolcha began in 2008 and have since become the premiere runway production to expose new and emerging group of designers to a global audience.  Each season, Nolcha runway shows exhibit 3 days of innovative designer collections. For Spring/Summer 2018, the Nolcha Runway show showcased All Comes From Nothing, Chasity Sereal, LuYang By YangLu, Neubyrne, Trade by Gina LaMorte, W. Reflex, and Yurita Puju.  Fashion Mingle was beyond excited to attend this season and we’ve recapped all of the top looks that you should know about from the designer collections.

All Comes From Nothing

Designer Eva Yiwei Xu, creator and visionary of All Comes From Nothing, presented a collection at the Nolcha Runway show that exudes sophistication with an artistic twist.  The collection gives a fresh perspective on minimalism and structured silhouettes inspired by art prints.  All Comes From Nothing is for the modern, creative, woman who isn’t afraid of powerful silhouettes with flair. The Spring/Summer 2018 collection represented power, structure, and bold graphics, which you can style for the office, for dinner, or for a fun night out.  Menswear inspired prints, oversized and unique layers; graphic sweaters paired with textured skirts graced the runway making a bold statement. Bold artistic graphics printed on knits and styled with an asymmetrical printed skirt for a sophisticated sleek style.

Chasity Sereal

Houston, Texas based designer Chasity Sereal is known for her artistic and non-traditional formal dress designs.  The designs are elegant, edgy, and avant-garde interpretations on formal wear.  Chasity Sereal aims to inspire women to be confident and fearless in style by going against the grain.  The Chasity Sereal Spring/Summer 2018 collection represented all things feminine but with a contemporary edge.  Inspired by women and nature, the soft pastels paired with deep cut out and sheer details, this collection brings a new way to think about formal wear debuted at the Nolcha Runway show.

A garden party cocktail dress with a flawless fit with floral appliqués details the creativity of this bold collection. The eccentric creativity of the sheer corset gown is an example of Chasity Sereal’s will to challenge the standards of high fashion. View the entire Chasity Sereal collection

LuYang By YangLu

Founded in 2015, LuYang by YangLu debuted a Spring/Summer 2018 collection full of love at the Nolcha Runway show.  The China based designer displayed looks with geometric patterns and a mix of functional minimalist sportswear.  The designs represent the self-expression of independent women with a modern lifestyle.  The collection featured contemporary looks in red, which represents the inspiration of love.  Details of folds, embroidery, and hanging ribbon were used in the designs to show love in a fashion forward way.

The power of red – coordinated short and top set embroidered with geometric flamingos and detailed with ruffles displays the message of love and structured modern style. When asked about the inspiration for this season’s collection, Lu Yang states, “The collection appeals to modern city girls and encourages feelings of love at first sight”. Neubyrne

The Neubyrne Spring/Summer 2018 collection is all things whimsical, fantasy, and femininity combined.  Neubyrne prides itself on portraying the extraordinary through design.  The idea that you can never have too much color is one that the designer embraces without shame.  The collection was colorful, filled with looks to make you smile, and truly represented next level, innovative, style.

The inspiration for this collection began in Vietnam and was based on the designer’s love of travel and exploration of different cultures. Ruffles, floral appliqués, and stand out coordinate sets graced the runway.  View the entire Neubyrne collection. 

Trade By Gina La Morte

Trade by Gina La Morte is a New York based brand created by celebrity fashion stylist and fashion activist Gina La Morte.  Gina La Morte is using her designs to bring awareness to human trafficking trade.  Trade by Gina La Morte prides itself on representing the transformation and restoration process of victims of human trafficking through fashion and design.  The designs are based on modern bohemianism, being socially conscious, and sustainable living.  These beautiful reconstructed handbags and apparel items are crafted from vegetable tanned Italian leathers, hand dyed Italian suede, and recycled hand dyed silk Sari’s from India.

Standout styles such as the metallic, deconstructed, shift dress took the runway.  “Our use of one-of-a-kind trims and bead work that may have otherwise been discarded now creates something rare and luxurious.” said the designer. Each look shown on the runway was styled with a handbag to accessorize and further add to the statement of reworked, natural beauty. W.Reflex

W.Reflex, founded by Kris Wu in 2016 is a brand for men and women.  The Spring/Summer 2018 collection debuted at the Nolcha Runway show integrated athletic silhouettes and edgy details for standout style.  The concept of this collection is story telling through raw materials and Asian inspired cutting, to express individualism of style.  From coordinated sets to bold leather jackets, the collection gave new meaning to sporty chic.  Intricate design details, garments accessorized with ribbons, and slim fit suits took to the runway inspired by the culture of New York City.

W.Reflex - NOLCHA Runway SS'18

One of the many edgy color combinations shown on the runway for W.Reflex was the yellow tracksuit styled with sneakers and the orange jacket. Leather jackets decorated in ribbons styled with suit separates and sneakers created sporty and funky ensembles.  This playful look is an expression of vitality and individuality. Yurita Puji

Designer Yurita Puji took us on a journey during the Nolcha Runway show featuring ethnic textures and couture looks styled with statement jewelry and stunning headpieces.  The Jakarta, Indonesia based designer proudly represented her native heritage with unique traditional textures and fabrics including ikat, Songket from Sumatra, and Noken from Papua to celebrate diversity.  The fabrics used are eco-friendly, using natural dyes and resources.   Additionally, Yurita Puji worked with weavers from small villages to create this collection to further increase the local economy.  Currently, Yurita Puji retails in Jakarta, Indonesia and is looking to expand within the next year.

Intricately textured and designed dresses adorned the runway for the Yurita Puji show.  One of the highlights of the collection was this ruffle detailed dress layered with the fringe cap sleeved jacket. The exceptional accessories and headpieces styled with each look told the story of the Indonesian culture and spirit.
