Snow Xue Gao’s Bold Collection Pays Homage to Female Power

In Fashion Features, Fashion Week, NYFW Trend Reports by Victoria Roberts

Snow Xue Gao brings us a fresh and vibrant collection with her newest signature line, showcased in her flagship store on Bowery. The designer has taken inspiration from the ’60s, when women protested for equal rights, fair pay, and against domestic abuse in the household. She pays homage to the powerful women of that era with a collection full of bold prints, asymmetrical designs, and color-blocking silk dresses.

The designer also incorporated the colorful makeup trends of the ’60s and heavy, voluminous hair, perfectly matching the vibe of the collection. The pairing of these elements adds a unique touch and will make anyone stand out in a crowd.

The asymmetrical designs and bright prints make for a versatile look that can be dressed up or down to suit any occasion.

Snow Xue Gao inspires young women who aspire to create businesses and thrive in today’s industry. Her diligence and efforts have paid off, and her eponymous label proves that anything is possible with hard work and dedication. Starting a family has always been a personal goal for the designer, and with her recent marriage, she is one step closer to realizing this dream. Reflecting on her journey from her hometown in Beijing to the United States, Snow Xue Gao had to take nothing for granted and seized every opportunity to make an impact in the industry. She started as a student at Parsons, studying for an MFA in fashion design, and fell in love with the culture. Ultimately, she met her future husband and partner in New York, cementing her affinity to the city.

Snow Xue Gao’s signature collection was showcased with the help of some fantastic sponsors such as Dr. Martens, L’Oreal Professionnel Paris for hair, and Lunar for drinks. Matthew Liu produced the show, and the hair and makeup teams were led by Beautick’s Anna Smith and Marcello Costa, respectively. Ni Ouyang did the photography.
