Nicholas K – Fall 2013 Collection
Opening day of Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week kicked off with Nicholas K’s Fall 2013 Collection. The brother & sister design team took us on a journey with earth-tones, layers, & a hint of aviation. The garments donned by the models could have been overwhelming if not for the talented draping skills of the designers. The mix of draping, colors, and placement of the garments gave off an indigenous vibe, taking us to a time where clothes were made from rawhide. It was a very cool, post-apocalyptic affect.
BCBGMAZAZRIA Fall 2013 Collection
Lubov and Max Azria made sure we would remember their latest BCBGMAZAZRIA collection. The models came down the runway in layers upon layers of complimentary mixed prints, leather, knee-length dusters, thigh-high boots and “Cute, but Chic” beanie hats. Their collection was mostly black & white, with pops of burgundy and navy blue.
Tadashi Shoji Fall 2013 Collection
The collection on everyone’s lips is that of Tadashi Shoji.Tadashi took a different approach to the Fall, staying away from grunge and layers by bringing elegance. Every gown that walked down the cat walk appeared to have a story. Exquisite detailing along with perfect fabric choices, made this one of the favorites from day one. If Nicholas K took us to a future post-apocalyptic time, Tadashi Shoji took us back to the elegance of the 1920s. Though vintage-inspired, Tadashi kept the looks modern, with “purposeful-messy”, side-swept braided pony-tails and dark lipstick on his models.
