NYFW Spring 2016 Day 4 Trend Report

FEATURING: Derek LamDVF, Elie TahariOpening CeremonyPrabal Gurung,  Thakoon, Tracy Reese, & Victoria Beckham

Diane von Furtsenberg brought girlie back with her signature wrap dresses, cinched waists, loose waves, & floral hair accessories. Her looks featured fun prints, and body flattering silhouettes.  Whether a look was adorned with a belted jacket, or just a statement belt, Diane’s desire to accentuate a woman’s curves was ever present. Diane’s runway featured popular “IT Girl” models,  Kendall Jenner, Gigi & Bella Hadid, and Karlie Kloss.

Forget bell-bottom pants, let’s talk bell-bottom sleeves! Or I’m sure Derek Lam just refers to them as flared. While flared hems on pants have us thinking seventies, flared sleeves portrays a medieval style.

COLOR & STYLE

Elie Tahari featured several all white looks, but transitioned to earth tone colors of chocolate brown, taupe, army green and dark blue.  Tahari’s pieces ranged from uber feminine to almost camouflaging for a day out in the woods.  Tracy Reese also featured blue and green, but brighter shades. She also brought back the striking yellow-green color that has popped up on several runways since fashion week started.  and brought back that striking yellow-green color that was popular on day one of fashion week.  The styling of the model’s hair on the Tracy Reese runway were wild and free with a swooped bang and loose strands of hair.  Not sure ladies are ready for that hair style yet, but we’ll see if it becomes a trend this Spring!

Silhouettes
Thakoon’s collection was very skin baring with deep V’s, short shorts, and cut-outs. Victoria Beckham also featured deep V’s, but paired them with knee-length, or ankle-length skirts.

Prabal Gurung, channeling Nepal, and the colors of Buddhist Monks’ robes,  presented a diverse collection with a plethora of sheer fabric overlays, circle hem skirts, and a magnificent pairing of orange and yellow looks. Whether color-blocked, or solo, the hues of orange stole the show.

Best hardware award goes to Opening Ceremony for their bold metallic buttons, that made each of their looks pop!
