About Little Shelter of Long Island

Little Shelter Animal Rescue and Adoption Center is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter in Huntington, Long Island. Saving animals is nothing new for these pros, as they’ve been placing pets into loving homes for nearly 100 years. 

At Little Shelter of Long Island age, physical condition and social issues never prevent a pet from being rescued. These loving animals that are turned away by other shelters find a savior in the form of the heroes at the Little Shelter. Other services offered by this non-profit including a spay and neuter program and rehab of sick pets. Plus there’s a screening process to ensure that every re-homed pet is sent to a family that is prepared to fulfill the animals unique needs.

Included on the shelter’s 9 acres is Sheltervale Pet Cemetery. This has been the final resting place for companion animals for more than 90 years. Little Shelter Animal Rescue was named Best of Long Island 9 years in a row (2010 – 2018) for Best Animal Shelter and Best Animal Rescue!
