The hot Texas weather isn’t the only thing sizzling this summer! We’re excited to announce that Austin’s Jose Luis Salon has been named Team of the Year finalists for the 2018 North American Hairstyling Awards. I interviewed the dream team, owner Jose Luis Buitron, Creative Director Teresa Romero, and Wardrobe Designer, Benson Roberts in Austin.
A competition of this magnitude is no small challenge. It takes time, discipline, creativity, and commitment. Jose Luis Creative Director Teresa Romero recalls all of the hard work “Preparing for NAHA really is a year-long plus journey. In fact, while we planning for this year’s NAHA, I was already preparing for the next NAHA in my brain”. Romero explained that the competitions run simultaneously in her thought process. “This particular collection took a full year, hiring a photographer, countless hours, several meetings, and practice sessions…this was a beautiful journey, and you have to be humble.”

Interview with the 2018 NAHA Team of Year Finalists: Jose Luis Salon
The Jose Luis Salon team combined hair, makeup, and fashion to create a labor of love. Austin videographer, Jim McKay and I interviewed owner Jose Luis Buitron, Creative Director Teresa Romero, and Wardrobe Designer, Benson Roberts at the Jose Luis Salon, Domain Northside location in Austin, TX.
