Albright College, celebrated for its Liberal Arts-based fashion design, merchandising, and costume design programs, continues to reinforce its reputation as a breeding ground for emerging fashion talent. The college’s fourth runway show at New York Fashion Week took place on September 7th, showcasing a stunning display of creativity and innovation from nine recent graduates. This annual event has become a hallmark for the college, highlighting the unique visions and skills of its students.

The show began with graduate Mary Quinn, who set a vibrant tone for the evening. Her opening piece featured a floral-embellished cropped bustier paired with a double-layered skirt. Quinn’s use of dimensional floral elements, combined with subtle colorations, captured the essence of spring while maintaining a wearable design. The audience was immediately drawn in by the intricate detailing and the harmonious blend of texture and form, creating an inviting atmosphere for what was to follow.

Following Quinn, Michelle Nguyen took the stage with a collection that masterfully merged her rural inspirations with the edgy cuts typical of contemporary Asian streetwear. Nguyen’s designs included a striking grass-green A-line mini-dress adorned with a playful red barn applique. Accompanying this was a white blouse featuring a Peter Pan collar, bridging the gap between a preppy schoolgirl look and the cutting-edge aesthetic inspired by Tokyo’s Ginza district. The juxtaposition of styles showcased Nguyen’s ability to draw from diverse influences while maintaining a cohesive narrative throughout her collection.

Next in line was Truc Phuong Ha, whose collection radiated with inventive silhouettes and asymmetry. Ha demonstrated a creative approach to proportion, skillfully playing with shapes. Each piece showcased an understanding of how to manipulate fabric and form, highlighting the designer’s keen eye for detail and originality.

Abby Thomas-Ridgway showcased a series of airy, feminine day dresses crafted from appliquéd eyelet fabric. Her designs celebrated soft lines and delicate materials, creating an ethereal quality that was both refreshing and approachable. The transition to eveningwear was seamlessly handled by Lydia Simone, who introduced a striking swimwear collection. Among her standout pieces was a turquoise swim top paired with a lavender butterfly overcoat, which brought a unique flair to the runway.

Felicia Oyekola presented impeccably tailored dresses that skillfully navigated the intersection of costume and high fashion. Her bridal pieces catered to both modern and traditional tastes. The highlight of her collection was a white lace long train bridal gown, which garnered particular attention for its intricate craftsmanship and stunning silhouette, perfectly embodying the essence of contemporary bridal fashion.

Graduate Kamiah Jean brought a bold edge to the runway with her collection featuring chain and hardware elements. Her construction techniques demonstrated an innovative approach to design that pushed the boundaries of traditional fashion, inviting the audience to rethink the role of accessories and embellishments in contemporary attire.

Mia Rezza showcased a selection of mocha silk charmeuse evening dresses, accented with sky-blue silk chiffon. The refined color palette provided a visually pleasing spectacle as the models gracefully navigated the event’s U-shaped runway. Each gown flowed elegantly, reflecting a sophisticated aesthetic that resonated with the audience.

The show concluded with Stephanie Vargas Hemmings, whose collection provided a fitting finale to the evening. Hemmings’ work encapsulated the diverse range of talent on display, culminating in a celebration of creativity and innovation that has become synonymous with Albright College.
