Hong Kong Fashion, organized by HKTDC, was held at The Dock, Skylight at Moynihan on February 12, 2016. The three talented designers in this show were Loom Loop, Harrison Wong, and Hidy N.G.
Loom Loop kicked it off with a beautiful display of floral and butterfly patterns. According to the designer team’s website, “The fabric we use for the garments was a famous traditional fabric of Guangzhou China. It is the best summer clothing fabrics, it does not stick to the body, and it is cool and comfortable, it remains its color in the fastness to sunlight.”[1] The airy garments flowed gracefully down the runway while butterfly headpieces and patterned sneakers topped off the look.
The second designer to show was Harrison Wong. This handsome menswear collection displayed a variety of outerwear styles including a down comfort poncho, heavy wool coats and some lighter casual styles. There’s something here for every urban man. Harrison Wong has recently entered a new chapter in his career by opening his first menswear retail shop at PMQ, Hong Kong’s exciting new arts and design hub in Central.
The final collection to show was by designer Hidy N.G.. The neutral palette filled with multiple layers and textures was far from ordinary. Hidy’s ready to wear collection is designed for business executives with a high sense of style. Her design philosophy is based on the amalgamation of art and timeless fashion pieces, each a showpiece on its own.
This was a very enjoyable show in every way. The space, lighting, music and wonderful variety of designs would be pleasing to any guest.
