In Designer Gallery, Fashion Design, Fashion Designers, Fashion Events, Fashion Features, Fashion Week by Julie Stanley

I kicked off New York Fashion Week with a return to Fashion Hong Kong HKTDC! This FW’20 season hit the runways of Spring Studios on February 6th, 2020 at 11am. This delightful collection of designers displayed ready to wear with their own unique twists and surprises. Colorful collections took over the runway sure to keep you feeling bright on a cool winter day.

Girl, You’ll be a Woman Soon

Heaven Please by Lary Cheung & Yi Chan presented the sweetest 12 piece collection called “Girl, You’ll be a Woman Soon”, inspired by Princess Diana and traditional British royal costumes. It’s full of ruffles and flowery prints on flowy long-sleeved dresses paired with sneakers and boots. The far from dreary color pallet includes pink, yellow, lilac, plum, and green along with pops of metallic to keep you feeling alive and vibrant! This design duo graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and launched their first collection in 2012.

Abstract Composition

Harrison Wong’s 12 look collection, “Abstract Composition”, displays his fascination with abstract visual art. Classic tailoring with the use of color blocking and contrasting colors of peach, olive, bright blue, beige, and black, along with mixed textures of glossy and matte materials provide a heightened level of contrast in this sporty meets sophisticated collection. This award-winning designer is a graduate of the London College of Fashion and opened his first retail shop in Hong Kong in 2014.

I Swear I’m a Nice Ghost

Sunequalsen by Sun Lam, brought a super playful and fun 12 piece collection called “I Swear I’m a Nice Ghost”, inspired by the character, The Nice Ghost, who teaches people to not get caught up in stereotypes and stigmas. The models walk the runway in sporty workwear with youthful accents of pom poms and fuzzy ears. Blacks and Earth tones were brought to life with bright neons of pink, yellow, and green with bright blues, lilac purple, and an array of mixed prints, rainbow-striped socks, and sparkly shoes. Sun Lam has degrees from both the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Winchester School of Art in which she graduated with distinction in 2015.

Show production and casting was by LDJ Productions. Hair and make-up was by Aveda and PR by Agentry PR.
