Evan Hirsch’s Latest Fashion Collection Reflects on Childhood Home and Legacy

In Fashion Features, Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week by Victoria Roberts

Evan Hirsch’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection made a compelling statement during New York Fashion Week, presented in an intimate rooftop venue just off Times Square. Known for his innovative approach to convertible fashion, Hirsch elevated his signature style this season by incorporating a deeply personal narrative into his new designs, part of a collection titled “Memories, Drapery & Milestones.”

Recently, Hirsch faced the emotionally challenging task of parting with his childhood home in Dix Hills, Long Island. This home, a sanctuary of comfort and familiarity throughout his youth, was sold, and the distinctive elements of his upbringing—drapes, curtains, and upholstery—were dismantled. The loss prompted Hirsch to reflect on the significance of these textiles, which had been integral to his early life.

Rather than allowing these cherished materials to fade into memory, Hirsch chose to preserve them through his fashion. He gathered remnants from his childhood home and repurposed them into his collection, each piece being a tribute to the objects that shaped his formative years. For instance, patterns from his sister’s bedroom drapes were transformed into a strapless mini-dress with a bow at the waist, while his mother’s kitchen drapes were reimagined into a two-piece day ensemble. The collection also features a ball gown created from cushions that once belonged to his grandmother.

The hoop skirt was a highlight of the collection. This dramatic design featured patterns from Hirsch’s family kitchen, reimagined into a hoop skirt paired with a geometric bow cape. Another piece was a gown with an elegant one-shoulder silhouette, adorned with palm leaf appliqués, transformed from the living room curtain liners.

In addition to the collection’s focus on personal history, Hirsch dedicated his presentation to his grandfather, who was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor during the sale of the home and passed away in late July. To support a cause close to his heart, Hirsch partnered with the Brain Tumor Foundation for this presentation.

Enhancing the collection’s allure was Hirsch’s collaboration with MiaDonna, The Eco Diamond Company. The show featured a stunning 21.06-carat emerald cut diamond, an impressive gem measuring nearly 19mm x 13mm x 9mm and showcased on several ensembles.
