The SAUNDER Fall / Winter 2015 collection was presented during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Ed’s Chowder House at The Empire Hotel in New York City. This was the first presentation show I have ever attended so as a professional photographer, the ability to view and photograph the models up close was quite a treat.
This collection was designed by Emily Saunder and inspired by Henry VIII and the English Tudor period. The vision was translated flawlessly from the fur collars and platform shoes down to the pearl and jewel details in the hair. The designer presented a variety of looks ranging from dresses to pant suits to bold print sweaters paired with trousers or sheer black tights by HUE and jackets embellished with lapel pins featuring portraits of the nobility during the Tudor period.
The pale makeup covering over the brow and the bold lip were very reminiscent of the old portraits of Queen Elizabeth. Makeup was by Orlando Santiago for Mehron, an all vegan cosmetic line made in the USA. Patty Yankee adorned the nails with jewels and pearls that tied right in with the pearl details in the hair by hairstylist Nunzio Saviano. The models wore bold jewelry pieces consisting of silver and gold metal ear cuffs, earrings, bracelets, rings and hematite necklaces by designer Megan Isaacs.
The atmosphere of the space was bright, soft and very inviting. The wall of windows provided a natural sun lit room, ideal for viewing the small details of this collection. The models were beautifully posed on small platforms on both sides of the room and along the back.
