Custo Barcelona FW’20: Iridescent Outerwear

In Designer Gallery, Fashion Design, Fashion Designers, Fashion Events, Fashion Features, Fashion Week by Julie Stanley

Custo Dalmau, founder of the brand Custo Barcelona, brought his 25 Year Spectacular to the shiny black runway of Art Hearts Fashion at New York Fashion Week held at the Neo Gothic Angel Orensanz Foundation on Saturday, February 8th 2020 at 3pm. The line got longer and longer as we waited out in the chilly winter breeze for this highly anticipated show. Custo has quite a following so I was sure to arrive early. It was worth the wait. When they finally let media in, the pit was already packed… I found my tiny spot to squeeze into and waited patiently as the house filled up.

Models came lively down the runway wearing the brightest most brilliant and shiny winter outerwear that I’ve ever seen! There were puffy ski coats, metallic jackets, ponchos, sparkly and shiny jump suits, and fun dresses that were paired with sneakers or iridescent heels. Every garment that hit that runway had glitz, iridescence, loud color and a punch of high energy. The 48 piece men’s and women’s collection was quite a celebration of the energy and vibrancy that Custo brings to every creation. My absolute favorite piece was the big, puffy iridescent ski coat that ended the show. Yes, please! I’ll be shopping for that when the season arrives!

Custo Dalmau was born in Tremp, Spain and spent his childhood and adolescence in Barcelona. He started this label along with his brother David in 1996. You can shop for your Custo pieces at custo.com and many other online boutiques.
