Francesca Liberatore Introduces Spring Collection with Soft Pastels at NYFW

In Fashion Week, Spring & Summer Trends by Julie Stanley

As the crowd filled in the gallery ready to see the new collection from Francesca Liberatore and the lights dimmed, the models entered the runway with whimsical grace in the softest flowing fabrics including french lace, silk jacquard and purest cotton, that moved lightly like a spring breeze.

The beautiful color palette started off with True White and Dark Dove Grey then moved into a lovely variety of fresh spring colors such as Lightest Blue, Softest Yellow, Pink-tinged Lilac, Dirty Greens and Violet Blue. Two hand drawn prints by Francesca were used in this collection: Watch Mechanisms and the inner workings, and Aviator discharging from a Plane. These prints represent her inspiration for this show which is time travel, watch mechanisms, plane engines, rural America, Antoinette’s France, Middle East and beauty resplendent in all of her forms.

The talented style team for this show was led by Charlie Price with Beauty Underground on hair and Janell Geason for Aveda on make-up. Nails were by Pattie Yankee for Patricia Nail Lacquers and Parker Radcliffe provided the music.

Francesca has worked for some of the biggest names in fashion including Viktor & Rolf, Jean Paul Gaultier and Brioni. It’s no surprise her namesake label, launched in 2009, won Italy’s prestigious Next Generation competition, which opened the door to Milan Fashion Week for her. The fashion world has welcomed her as she’s shown in the most famous cities including Paris, London, New York, Berlin Warsaw, Kiev Beijing and more.
