Creatures of the Wind was definitely on the top of my list of must-see shows this season. Designers Shane Gabier and Chris Peters presented their SS18 collection on September 9th 2017. Instead of bold, in your face styles that we are used to with this brand, the focus was on something different; up-cycled materials.

They brought back the fur they created for fall which turned out to be a big seller and added even more to this collection like vintage sweat shirts and tee shirts with new graphics printed on top of the old graphic, and some fantastic leather coats that were stripped and re-dyed and painted over to create an unusual effect. My favorite accessory in this collection is the strappy, wrap around the wrist clutch, that every woman should have.
The collection of dresses, slacks, jackets and trenches was strong, starting off with a neutral palette of white, ivory, beige, grey and black moving into blue plaid and some orange prints, accented with bright red touches. The leather coats with the painted on print made the biggest color splash in the show. The dainty leather belts and little flower jewelries were created by Sonia Boyijian.
This Chicago born brand has been gaining more and more recognition since they were founded in 2008. After winning several awards and being named one of WWD’s 10 of Tomorrow, I think we have a lot more to see from this design duo. According to their bio their collections are inspired by music, the language of culture and ideas of identity. All collections are also entirely manufactured in the United States.
