Chromat Conquers NYFW Runway with Diverse Cast of Models

In Fashion Week, Spring & Summer Trends by Patrick Hovan

Built off of the influence of architecture and technology and spanning close to a decade making waves in the fashion industry, Chromat was an exciting show to watch and photograph. The architectural swimwear and athletic brand is designed for the strong powerful woman.

I was already familiar with Chromat and the brands’ impact on the fashion industry. However, this would be my first season covering the runway collection at New York Fashion Week. After hearing much praise for the brand and their dedication to women of all shapes, sizes, and ethnicity, I was very excited to capture the debut of what was sure to be a memorable Spring Summer 2018 collection.

One thing that was evidently clear is that Chromat is focused on empowering women of all shapes and sized through perfectly fit garments. Often times we are reminded of how restricted the fashion industry can still be, and with designers becoming more inclusive in their shows, the rest of the industry will be quick to follow. The brand is at the forefront of the continuing movement and in today’s society they are clearly an important staple of all around human equality. Hailing from New York City and making such an impact, it is no surprise of the amount and level of people that stand behind the brand. Celebrities and personalities such as, Beyoncé, Zendaya, Taylor Swift, Tyra Banks, and Nicki Minaj have all been known to stand by and make statements in Chromat looks.

The collection itself this spring summer 2018 season was made up of many different looks for any occasion. From color full swimwear and activewear, made up of oranges, blues, and white. It was the theme of empowerment and feeling confident in your own skin that exuded its very presence. Perfectly crafted pieces made it very easy to see where that architectural background and influence played a huge part in inspiration and design process. Shifting slightly in the collection, it moved forward from the beachwear, to active wear, to dresses for any occasion. Light pink billowy dresses fit to the models made a slightly softer impact, showing that you don’t have to sacrifice one for the other when it comes to powerful and femininity. If anything everyone should be reminded that the strong woman often shows these side by side. Wrapping up the collection came extravagant gold pieces. Giving the whole collection that final perfect touch to bring it all together in luxury.

In the modern days and how insane things get around the world, It is always important to believe in yourself, stay positive and stand your ground. Over the course of time it is no question women have always had to fight for their rights. It is designers like Chromat that see this and actually do something about it. Not being pushed back by the rules and regulation of the fashion industry. With Chromat those measurements everyone seems to obsess over don’t even exist. It is Chromat who sees the future, who is doing something about it, and who knows how to make an impact on the Spring summer 2018 NYFW season.
