The Vicky Zhang NYFW collection presented beautiful looks on models of all ages on the runway the Skylight venue at Moynihan Station. Designers who create clothing for both adults and children have a major task ahead of them — making garments that are relatable across age groups can be quite difficult, as demographics can require vastly different looks. Zhang, however, did so with this beautiful SS 2017 collection.
Zhang managed to merge the two worlds of career woman and child at play with ease and success! The Vicky Zhang NYFW collection managed to utilize various textures in both categories while still appealing to women and children. Sheer fabrics, shimmering accents, and light pastel colors ruled the runway of the Vicky Zhang NYFW collection. The palest blues, greens, and white were highlighted this season.
The Zhang collection was unique, as the adult models and child models strutted down the runway at the same time. The adult models set the pace and the children wore pint sized, age-appropriate versions of clothing from the line.
The styling for the Vicky Zhang NYFW show was simplistic. Models wore ultra-modern, messy updos or ponytails. The beautiful looks were the perfect compliment to the sleek clothing showcased on the runway.
Zhang is a graduate of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Vicky Zhang made headlines for being the first family-themed designer to present at China International Fashion Week in 2015. These collections have since been seen on fashion week runways all over the world. We’re looking forward to the next time this playful and family-friendly designer presents at NYFW!
